Why people are talking about it
'Fibremaxxing' took off on social media in 2025, with people competing to eat as much fibre as possible. Experts support eating more fibre but warn against going overboard too fast.
Why it's gut-friendly
Oats, berries, seeds and nuts give you a big fibre boost from whole foods, plus yoghurt for live cultures.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup (180 g) natural yoghurt or kefir
- ¼ cup (25 g) rolled oats or toasted muesli
- ½ cup berries
- 1 tbsp chia or ground flaxseed
- 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
- 1 tbsp chopped nuts
- ½ pear or apple, diced (skin on)
Method
- Spoon yoghurt into a bowl.
- Top with oats, fruit, seeds and nuts.
- Drizzle with honey if you like and eat straight away.
Good to know
Australian guidelines suggest around 25 g of fibre a day for women and 30 g for men. Increase slowly and drink plenty of water.
Make it yours
- Swap yoghurt for warm porridge in winter.
- Add a sprinkle of cinnamon and grated apple.
- Use frozen berries, thawed overnight, to save money.
