Why people are talking about it

Overnight oats are one of the most-shared meal-prep breakfasts online, with endless 'jar of the week' flavour videos.

Why it's gut-friendly

Oats contain beta-glucan, a soluble fibre your gut bacteria can ferment. Adding yoghurt or kefir brings live cultures too.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (45 g) rolled oats
  • ½ cup (125 ml) milk of your choice
  • ¼ cup (60 g) natural yoghurt or kefir
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • Handful of berries

Method

  1. Combine oats, milk, yoghurt, chia and honey in a jar.
  2. Stir well, seal and refrigerate overnight (at least 6 hours).
  3. In the morning, stir, top with berries and eat cold.
Good to know

Make three or four jars on Sunday for an easy week of breakfasts. They keep for up to 3 days in the fridge.
